Why I'm Creating the Trusting Birth Works Course

My first birth was extremely painful and chaotic, which resulted in an epidural I didn’t like. Sadly, I felt pretty awful about my first birth! My mistake was that I only prepared my BODY for birth. But the body already KNOWS how to birth. The truth is (and I found out after my first) that birth is a MENTAL game. So to prepare better for my second birth, I applied occupational therapy pain neuroscience principles to the birth process to reduce or eliminate birth pain. I used anxiety psychological approaches from my mental health practice to overcome birth fears to actually feel excited to birth naturally. And I had an amazing second birth! I felt fearless, confident, calm, joyful, (and even pleasure!) in my second birth. I couldn't believe the transformation compared to my first. The ability for women's bodies to birth with little-to-no intervention or pain felt like this big secret that goes against what most women are told and believe about birth. I created this online birth class to help other women fearlessly trust in their body's ability to birth and experience birth sensations in a way that feels manageable. If I can love a natural birth more than one that's medicated, so can you! I created this online birth class to give women desiring natural birth the knowledge and tools to have a fearless, joyful, and manageable birth.

Going Beyond the Physical

What You'll Learn

This birth course focuses mainly on MENTAL preparation for birth. You'll learn the neuroscience behind birth and how the body interprets sensations as "good" or "bad". For my first birth, I mostly prepared by practicing various labor positions and learning about the stages of labor. But I never learned how to deal with the "pain" or sensations of birth. This class covers stages of labor and positions too, but primarily focuses on getting you to understand the PHYSIOLOGY of birth and birth sensations (and how birth can actually feel GOOD). This course will help you train your brain to optimize the MIND-BODY CONNECTION to change how you perceive birth sensations for experiencing a manageable labor.

 

If you plan to birth naturally, you're going to participate more in the birth process than you would in a medicated birth. To prepare for a more involved birth, the exercises and activities included in this course will help you confidently plan for your ideal birth, whatever that looks like for you. This course includes exercises that will help you work through anxieties and fears as you mentally prepare for birth. You'll receive opportunities to engage in hands-on activities to create physical tools to aid with birth sensations. You'll be guided to think about how the arrival of your baby affects your roles and identity. This course even includes activities for spiritually preparing to bring new life into the world by helping you think about birth means to you. This class upholds both the SCIENCE and ART of birth.

You'll receive access to BIRTH MEDITATION AUDIO TRACKS (sometimes called hypnobirth tracks) to listen to during pregnancy and birth. The Trusting Birth Works meditation tracks are used like hypnobirth tracks. These birth meditation tracks were created using scientific, psychological principles used in mental health practice. The tracks will help you eliminate birth fears, go into labor confidently, optimize your breath for labor and relaxation, manage birth sensations, and improve connection with your baby in utero.
